How do you practice self-care?

Personally, I just meditate, eat healthy food, exercise, listen to soothing lo-fi music and watch one of my favorite shows. Self-care isn’t difficult if you know what brings you peace and relaxation.

As a writer, self-care is going to be a bit different for everyone. However, the basic principle of self-care is ease and dis-ease. If you’re constantly stressing about obligations and expenses then you’ll never be able to truly practice self-care. However, if you live a life that’s mellow and there aren’t that many responsibilities vying for your time and attention, self-care becomes a bit easier.

As a writer, the greatest act of self-care is knowing when to step away and when to step up. We already have a million distractions that make it easy to step away from the pen. We still need the discipline and dedication to look past those distractions and step up to the pen and write because writing helps us just as much as it helps those we write for.
