Written Author Interview

1. Tell me about yourself. What do you like to do outside of writing. What is a day in the life like for you?

I’m an old school gamer. I love playing Dungeons and Dragons and other board games. When I hang out with my friends I like going to renaissance fairs and going axe throwing. Most nights I like watching tv with my husband.

2. What inspired your first novel? What was the thing that got you into writing in the first place?

I’m a huge Babaylon 5 fan and it inspired my first book. I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was a kid. I’ve always had a large imagination but I didn’t know where to start. During the pandemic I was looking for an escape from the day to day negativity so I saw a blank piece of paper and started writing.

3. How do you come up with characters? Are they spontaneous or meticulously planned?

My characters just come to me as I come up with the story.

4. What are some of your favorite genres to read? Are there any books you’d recommend to first time readers or people looking for something new?

I love reading original fairytales and other forms of folklore. I would recommend the classics like the Hobbit.

5. What’s the most difficult thing about being a writer?

Honestly writing. The hardest part of being a writer is sitting down and writing.

6. What is your process to completing a novel from outline to final product?

For me it’s when my characters have nothing left to say. When I write I listen to what they have to say.

7. What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve written in your novel? Don’t worry, we don’t judge here.

In a dark fairytale I’m working on the MC’s father gets possessed by a demon and brutally raps her then cuts out her heart and eats it. After she’s dead he cuts out her tongue.

8. What’s one thing about being a writer that absolutely drives you up the wall?

Grammar and spelling.

9. What does being a successful writer look like for you? What type of life do you want to live as a writer?

I imagine people reading my books and getting inspired to write themselves. I would love to go to conventions to do book signings and get to know my fans. I imagine my life being fulfilled with happiness continuing to work on my books.

10. Describe your writing journey. If you had to write a story centered around it, do you think you could pull it off?

My writing journey starts with a notebook and a pen. When I’m left alone to think a flood of ideas come to me and I write them down. Later I transfer my thoughts to my laptop and it starts to become a story. I believe I could pull it off with time.
