Written Author Interview
- Tell me about yourself. What do you like to do outside of writing. What is a day in the life like for you?
I love to spend time at the local activity center, and do a lot of crochet. I spend a few afternoons doing both per week.
- What inspired your first novel? What was the thing that got you into writing in the first place?
Honestly, what inspired this first novel is my wife, and our story. I’ve always wanted to write, though.
- How do you come up with characters? Are they spontaneous or meticulously planned?
I plan them loosely, then they evolve on their own on the page.
- What are some of your favorite genres to read? Are there any books you’d recommend to first time readers or people looking for something new?
I love sci-fi. I heavily recommend Jurassic Park by Micheal Chricton
- What’s the most difficult thing about being a writer?
The social media part of it. It is personally exhausting.
- What is your process to completing a novel from outline to final product?
I write a loose outline, then write a chapter by chapter outline, then let myself go loose with it.
- What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve written in your novel? Don’t worry, we don’t judge here.
Wendy slapping the hecc out of Lucy. It was so satisfying.
- What’s one thing about being a writer that absolutely drives you up the wall?
People don’t seem to understand that being a writer is hard work. It’s hours and hours of work.
- What does being a successful writer look like for you? What type of life do you want to live as a writer?
I want to be able to wake up, get up and write all day. That would be success for me.
- Describe your writing journey. If you had to write a story centered around it, do you think you could pull it off?
I don’t think I could write my own story. There are so many things I avoid talking about that facing them myself for a book would just hurt too much. I started wanting to write when I was little, then it evolved into a full passion in high school, and continued to mature into a career path after college.
