CHAPTER ONE 

London streetlight cast a golden glow in the cities.The winter cool breeze caress Naomi skin. Suddenly the sound of Mike harsh words echo in her ear, 

Barren woman! 

Sadness appeared across her face, and felt the weight of depression. Her heart was filled with heavy regret, and broken hearted. 

Naomi twisted her mouth with a deep breath, and utter words loudly with tear on her eye. Mike make me cry for things that i cannot create by myself. ” A man true identity is test, they say, when he has everything” Mike has everything. The cars, mansion, and other material things in his possession. But he made my marriage hell for me. 

She stood up from the bed, and stand silently at the window frame, staring at moonlight, enjoying the serenity of atmosphere. 

The little snow drop from the skies, along the road.The cars and buses tried to move from the night traffic. Suddenly Naomi clutched the bedsheet, buried her bitterness and fall asleep in her bed. 

When it was dawn in Nigeria. Naomi father, Jacob slipped out of the bed, and pulled out his phone. He went into the sitting room. His wife, Esther woke up, and followed him quietly. 

He dialed Naomi number in London. Suddenly her phone rang, and sound in her ears. She waking up, and managed to glance at her golden wrist watch. 

It was 5: 00 am. 

Naomi quickly pick her phone up from the table beside the bed. 

Hello, Naomi. 

Yes, Dad. 

Please, where are you? 

I am Brighton cities, in London. 

My goodness, Jacob said, breathe faster. 

Naomi swallowed hard, and her lip spoken in soft hushed tones, 

Dad, you always get what you want. Your are the architect of my misfortune marriage. You endangers my life for the sake of business partnership with Mike father, the billionaire tycoon. Such worthless life with his prudent son.You thinks of wealth, not my happiness. 

Jacob voice sound on harsh on the phone. Why do you divorce mike without my consent? 

Naomi managed to control her anger. Mike never change from what he used to be, womanizer, drug addict and womanizer. 

Suddenly guilty conscience ripped through Jacob mind. 

I am so sorry, Naomi. 

Mike harsh treatment is like memory. I wasn’t ready to remember. My heart still bleed, because I married the enemy of my destiny. I was under his spell for years. There is nothing I do that impressed him. He started cheating on me with unique woman. I have free myself from him. Now, happiness is the treasure of my life. Mike regret broken up with you. I want you to reconcile with him, Jacob said bitterly 

The damage done in years sometime cannot be repair, Naomi screamed loud, and sat on the sofa. A beauty of a woman fade with her eye, because she’s stay too long, Jacob cut in. 

I married mike in my young age, witness heart break and a sorrowful years of my life. But I can’t blind with hypocrite man again. 

Jacob paused, hold his phone firmly. He took a deep breath. Esther’s eye blazed with anger, and staring at her husband with his deep thought. 

Then Jacob muttered, but sound to Esther ear’s. 

This is ridiculous.

Naomi nearly dropped her phone down. When her mother, Esther screamed loudly. You believe that marriage is about wealth, fame and power. You force my daughter to married mike. But you are a coward, and afraid to fight for her. 

That is not truth, Jacob shouted, and silent for a while. 

You know, Mike take hard drugs, womanizer and drunk alcoholic excess like his father. 

Yes! 

Naomi was shock to hear her mother pleading voice in her husband phone. Please, Naomi. Come back home. You have the right to marry the man of your choice. 

I will stayed in London for awhile. Mum, there is nothing you can do to change my mind. 

You can’t find that virtue man in London, Jacob yelled 

Naomi paused, felt more uncomfortable. She staggered back, and leaned against the wall. Her father harshly words piercing her hearts, and tear welling up in her eye. 

She end the call. And soilioquize her house maid, Deborah prophetically words. 

“There are many things money cannot secure in life. Which is, true love that bear burden with a softened heart,and flourishes in patience. No matter the challenges of life. 

Don’t allowed your father to force you to marry his business partner son, Mike. He think intently about his background status, and impressed, getting along in the world of wealth with Benson. He believe marriage are meant for wealth and power, for people of the same background status. 

Remember, I do in marriage with Mike, can became I regret later. It won’t happened suddenly. It will come so slow, and painful process that will led to broken heart.

CHAPTER TWO 

The rain had stopped. Naomi dial her elder brother, Joseph. Then his phone ring. 

Joseph reaches for his phone. I was just thinking how I missed you, Attorney Naomi. 

Stop flattered, Big brother, Naomi voice sounded on the phone. 

How’s your husband, mike? 

I have broken up with him. 

I have never like mike, because he’s too arrogant. 

Yes, Joseph. But I’ll never forgiven him for shattered my life. 

How’s Mum? 

She’s worried about you, because London have taken the greater part of your life. 

That’s not truth, little sister. 

Alright, I have decided to visit your law chamber in brighton cities, London. 

I am in the office. But I have unique case files on my table. I can’t wait see Attorney Naomi to help my clients, Joseph tease, and smile. 

Naomi stood up from the sofa, and dress up quickly. She took a deep breath, and grappled her bag, and use the hotel elevator as her exit. 

She stood in front of the five star hotel.Then a cab driver slowly on the road, and watched her bodies shaking with cold. Suddenly Naomi sighed deeply, sighted the cab driver. She waving her right hand at him. He moved faster, and stop. Naomi could see the smile on his handsome face. 

You look worried, madam. But your bodies feel the quietness of cold weather. 

The storm inside Naomi heart rage. It is not of your business. If I embrace the winter that absorb the cold inside me. 

He exhaling deeply, and nodded his head. Naomi felt the sympathetic in his silent.Tear pricking at the corner of her eye. 

I am going to Joseph law chamber in Brighton cities, 

Hop in, the cab driver felt a surge of anger, as her voice echoes. 

He quickly pulled the door open. Naomi sat uncomfortably on the front seat quietly. He started the engine and began to drive faster. 

A white police woman stood still at the cities of london. She watching his speed, and disappearing from her view. The cab driver turned into a corner, and tried to hold her left arm. It is about learning to be strong. Naomi felt the warmth of his right arm. Don’t touch me. You are not my fiance. 

Alright! I am sorry. 

Naomi thought bitterly, there was something special behind his words. But sound something she can’t handle. Few minutes later. the cab driver stopped along the road.

How much is it? Naomi asked harshly 

Twenty pound, the cab driver replied 

She removed the money from her purse and paid him.Then the driver zoom off along the road. Naomi’s heart beat faster, and walking down street that led directly to Joseph law chamber office. The mechanism of the law office door opened by itself. Then Naomi entered and staring at the new female 

secretary. She’s busy with her laptop, suddenly raised her head for a while. Naomi give her scornful look, and wondered what was running through her mind. 

How can I help you? 

I want to see the attorney Joseph, Naomi raising her voice. 

Does he book an appointment with you 

No, Naomi nodded her head 

You have to write your name and sign the visit book. 

Naomi display her anger and bash on the office doorstep. The female secretary quickly stopped her and dial her boss number. It’s started ringing. But Joseph was on the other phone talking with his client. Suddenly he stop, and pick her call. 

Hello, secretary, Joseph said quickly 

Sir, you have a female visitor 

Please, usher her in 

Okay, Sir 

The female secretary quickly opened the door. Naomi walked in, and shut the door. Joseph stare at his sister in surprise. He had never seen her on that bad mood before, and seem incapable of moving from her fear, sadness and broken heart. 

Naomi catch her breath. He stood up from his desk, and quickly took her hand, and pulled her close. Naomi embrace him warmly. Then he wiping tear from her eye, and cleared his throat. 

Why this long face? 

Your new secretary trying to pissed me up. 

Come on, Naomi. She’s doing her job 

I am sorry, just that I am not in good mood. 

When did you arrived in London? 

Six days ago, Naomi answered 

Oh! my God, you are not bother to call me on phone. So that I will send my driver to pick you from the airport. I don’t want to disturb you. I presume, that you are busy with your clients in the office. 

How’s Dad and Mum in Nigeria? 

They are strong as a steel. Obviously, Dad always roaring like lion. But mum calm him like a sheep. You supposed to be comedian, not an international lawyer like me, Joseph said and burst laugh. Before Joseph could find out what had happened to her marriage. Naomi break his silent, Dad want me to reconcile with Mike. 

Joseph disgusts the picture of Mike in his mind, and beginning to see some senseless things his father, Jacob trying to do. 

Dad, is a man without conscience.

Dad call me, this morning. He became enraged and treating me, if I don’t reconcile with Mike. What was Dad thinking? Why Dad is trading your happiness with his business partner son? He think, money is everything, Naomi retorted in a teary voice. 

Come on, Naomi. It is time to absorb the warmth of courage to nullify the grief of your heart. I am living in the world of heart broken. 

Why, Naomi? Joseph asked surprisedly 

I can’t escape the sadness, the deceit and loneliness of my misery life. 

There is no need digging up the past. since we have enough courage to contend with the present. I wish, I can do that, Joseph

London is such a beautiful cities. Where average people in Africa continent cannot afford to come. I disagree you, Joseph.They have peace of mind, in spite of bad economy on their faces. It is better live like less privileged, and have peace of mind than the rich people like my Dad. Who think of himself alone. Is that the reason you prefer to defend the poor people free of charged in court of law.

Naomi and Joseph walked quietly for a few distance, and feeling the aroma inside the eatery. The black security man quickly opened the door. 

Joseph and Naomi walked inside the eatery. The black and white people gathering to have nice meal. An old white man look up, surprised to Naomi and Joseph, and curiosity, 

Are you couple? 

No, this is my big brother. He owned Joseph law chamber along Brighton cities, Naomi cut in Yes, I know him too well. He’s brilliant lawyer.There are men here, suited to your beautiful sister, the old white tease, burst laugh 

She’s not interested. Fate had other plan for her, joseph screamed abit 

Make yourself comfortable, the waitress said with courteous 

Come on, Naomi. let have a seat. 

She sat calm and decided to make a call.

I can’t wait to see you, Deborah exclaimed

Joseph studied Naomi for a moment, and whispered to her ear, 

You are not serious.

I thought that, you wanted to live in London for a while. 

I know, I am not thinking straight. I can’t settle in London, because no place like home. 

Joseph patted her back to comfort her. They enjoy their delicious meal, and stood up from the eatery, and walked half kilometers back to the office. The female secretary staring at them, and nodded her head. Joseph entered inside his Jeep and opened the front side door. Naomi sat down quietly. 

As he drove through the cities of London. Naomi staring the black and white people trekking beside the wide and smooth road. She was grief to be back home. But observed the Nigeria bustling cities. The traffic and numerous people bump each other. 

Few minutes later. Joseph stop his Jeep at Heart throw international airport.

Joseph and Naomi came down from his Jeep silently. they hugged each other for a while. Naomi get on board of British airlines. The aeroplane took from the ground. She watching children playing inside it. They awoke something inside her that making her felt jealous of their mother. It was so painful to be surround by what she want desperately. 

Six hours later, the airplane was about to land in Nigeria. Naomi quickly looks down from the window. The houses and building were very small on the ground. Suddenly the pilot sweet voice came through the sound system. Welcome to Nigeria. 

Immediately the airplane touches murtala muhammed international airport and began to move slowly until its stop. Fear took hold of Naomi. She quickly untied her belt. She sighted and breathes heavily. She walked to the entrance door, and climb the staircase. The arrival hall is crowded with unique people from homes and abroad. The immigration officer check Naomi passport and luggage, and nodded her head, 

Alright! 

Deborah walked slowly and watched men, women and children hurried to welcome their sibling and friends.They exchange greeting with their love ones who arrive from different countries. 

Suddenly she saw sadness on Naomi’s face. But she couldn’t hold back tear, and screamed loud, Madam Naomi. 

She quickly sight Deborah, and overwhelmed with joy, and said, 

Thanks for coming.

I just can’t get you out of my mind. but I am delighted to see at the airport. 

Obviously, I love traveling to London for shopping, tourist center, cinema Hall and pleasure all through. No place can be sweeter than one’s home. The fact is that you travel to London in 54fftf of depression, Deborah disagree

After minutes later. Deborah took cab home. 

CHAPTER THREE 

The afternoon sun was getting hot. Daniel quickly tied his towel, and take his bath. He went to the window, and looked out. 

Jennifer purposely opened the door, and see that his son are eager to go to the airport. 

What are you staring at, Daniel? 

Nothing, mother. 

She stared at him for a while, and left his room. Daniel put on his clothes. 

All of sudden, Helen walked across the hallway, and knock at Daniel door. He opened the door. Helen stood at the doorstep. 

May I come in? 

Yes, Daniel replied with uncomfortable manner. 

Helen slowly sat down beside him, and caught the bad expression on his face 

Is anything the matter? 

What do you want? 

Helen did not respond immediately. But

cautions with herself, because she was secretly in love with Daniel. 

Look Helen. I am not in the mood to talk. I need to hurried to the airport. Obviously, travellers are waiting to departure to unique countries. While some of them will be arriving to Nigeria, too. 

Jennifer had returned from the kitchen, and heard her son voice in his bedroom. Obviously she became thoughtful, Helen has a soft heart for Daniel. 

There was another long paused between them.Then Jennifer walked straight to his bedroom, and smile heavily at Helen. 

I know, you love my son. Please, be patience with him. 

She walked silently back to the sitting room. Daniel jump to his feet, and walked cross the other side of the road. Helen stood at the doorstep, and staring at him. 

Daniel quickly glanced at Helen. He steering his cab, and drove faster along the road that led to the airport As Naomi walked along the road. She saw a taxicab approaching from her direction, She wave vigorously.Then Daniel stops his cab and pressed an automatic switch to wind down the glass. 

Good afternoon, madam, where are you heading to? Daniel said, felt something was bothering this beautiful woman, 

Victoria Island, Naomi sound grief. 

Alright, hop in, Daniel said gently 

How much, taxi man? 

Five thousand naira only 

Alright, Naomi agreed on his fare. 

Daniel still suspected all was not right with his passenger. As far as he was concerned, she would rather keep it as burden to herself than split it out to him. He quickly put her baggage at the booth. 

Okay, madam, get in. 

Naomi settling herself into the front seat. Suddenly he clung to the steeling and drove off quietly. Welcome to Nigeria. 

Naomi threw glanced at him. He gave her quickly glanced, she quickly look away. 

Why are crying, madam? Daniel asked, concentration on the road. 

Nothing! 

Only those who cry, know the value of tear, Daniel said, gripped her hand and squeezed gently. Thank you 

Cheer up, madam. I know, you are having a hard time. Stop lamenting and yearning about your past experience in life, because life is a like bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving. Then he paused a little. Naomi breathes slowly, and chewing his words. Then her face lit up with courage and glanced up, staring at him and felt, He was young and handsome. But her face covered with unbalance emotion. 

Why cruelty fate is trying to play trick on me? Naomi asked, keeps staring at him. 

Whatever befall humans in life, is what they settle with their destiny. Remember the pain you feel right now, will be your great testimony someday. ” impatience is a recipe, they say, to remain where you are before” Daniel saw tear of satisfaction and gratitude shinning on her face. He stops his cab and breathes slowly. Naomi paused and looks intently at his face. She weights his inspire words,, but it keep flipping through her mind. She admitted it, because his sweet melody voice melt her broken heart. 

Daniel started the taxi cab, as he turns steeling and drive fast on the airport road. He pressed his horn and overtakes slow moving vehicles. He turns the cab into the left direction. 

Naomi soilioquize, I felt something for this taxi man in front of me, because I was fortunate to find him. Who has been incredibly with wisdom and knowledge. He perfectly possessed all the good qualities that she was looking for a man. 

Why men are cruel? Naomi cut him unaware 

Please pardon my manner. It is not all men that are cruel. Every virtue man believe woman is like a baby in his hands. He will notice her quiet moment, and never dismiss her pain and trouble hearted.The more he pampers her. She feels happy, because her happiness matter to him. 

I must confess, you are kind, polite and loving. 

Madam, i have my weakness, too. No humans is perfect in the world, because mistake has no master. But, if only we don’t betrayed our conscience.

Naomi could understand her feeling and growing to love him. She never thought about his girlfriend or platonic friends or fiancé or wife. In fact, they are lucky to have a wonderful man like the taxi man. She wishes, she was her dream man. 

Where can I find him? Naomi asked, breath faster

Who are you talking about? Daniel quickly cut in.

As long as you are optimistic, you will find the man after your heart. I learnt from my mother past experience. Obviously, She saw a man in her dream, and fell in love with him. unique men wanted to get married to her. But she rejected them all, because of her secret admiring. Her parent was worried about her age. My mother was 38 year old, but she never thought about menopause. Finally she gets married to the man of her dream. That is your father, Naomi cut him unaware.

Then, we are create for each other, Naomi tease him and burst laugh.

Why, taxi man? Are you married? Naomi asked impatience 

No, madam. But I don’t forget who I am, because it is not easy for poor man to wage war against the rich man daughter, Daniel said, concentrate on the road. 

Don’t say that again. The rich and poor are same people. You can be poor, but you have natural talent cannot be learn from school. 

I am second class degree holder, Daniel cut in 

Which course? Naomi said and smile. 

Economic, Daniel said and keeps silent. 

Why are you a taxi man? 

Employment in Nigeria is not by merit. They are meant for people with connection in the high place, Daniel cut in. That’s true. 

What is your profession? Daniel asked hurriedly 

I am London trained lawyer, with law firm in Victoria island. 

You are international lawyer. 

You can say that again. I get my first class bachelor’s degree in law in university of lagos. Then I travel to England to do my master and PhD in law. then I came back to Nigeria, and attended law school. 

Daniel reached the junction between Lagos Island and Ikeja.Then the traffic lights change from a green to red. He stopped. 

CHAPTER FOUR 

Naomi sense that was the sound of her ex- hubby jeep. Suddenly the reflection of cab mirror doesn’t make Naomi happy as Mike face appeared on it. Daniel peered into right mirror and sights Mike’s face. Is there any problem? 

No, Naomi answered 

Suddenly mike reached the junction, seeing that the traffic light has change into red. He slowly down. Few seconds later, the green lights were on. He quickly turns right, and staring a taxi man at the wheel. There is a beautiful and elegant lady looks like Naomi, sat beside him. 

Daniel drove fast on the road. Mike drove fast beside the taxi cab deliberately. He stares at Naomi, Are you back from London? 

Yes, Naomi replied sorrowfully 

Please let settle our dispute. 

No way, Mike. Each of your humiliation, abuse and insult always engrave in my heart. Once you lost me, you never have me back. 

I think, it is better. we settled our grievance. 

That will not work. We go our separate way, Naomi said and breathes slowly. 

Please let’s try and put this behind us, once and all. 

That’s impossible.Trust is like a glass once broken. It will never be the same again. 

It surprise Daniel to see Naomi crying. Then he put arm on her shoulder as she staring at him passionate and feel relax in his company, as Mike do staring at the taxi man, but he understands perfect well. How Naomi must feel about him. Then he feels uncomfortable, as they chatted freely 

Your ex- hubby does not worthy your tear.

Naomi smile at him. As Daniel move his cab faster on the road but Naomi had been very afraid that Mike might take it out on taxi man, because he have a jealous spirit that ruled him. 

Are you willingly to go back to him, madam, Daniel said surprise. 

No way, he torments my marriage for nine years. 

Why did you marry him? Daniel stammering 

Our parents are business partner. My father forces me to marry him, for his selfish interest, Naomi answered, sobbed 

Stop crying, you have to prove to your father, that there are better virtue men out there. Daniel said and console her. 

Mike doesn’t like what he saw, as Naomi place her arm on Daniel’s steeling and smile at him. He feel more uncomfortable and encage in fear. Then thought flash through his mind. 

Had Naomi get herself, in love affair with the taxi man? 

Mike drives his jeep faster beside the taxi cab, and shouted,

Yes, mike. Women are like plants, they grows without been force, Naomi rebuke him and burst laugh Spoil brat, be careful. When you make a woman cried because God is counting her tear for you on the day of your judgment on the earth. Then your father wealth can’t save you.

You have to show her respect. A real man never hurt his wife but care and protects her.

Mike slow down his jeep, staring so steadily at Naomi. But she quickly looks away from him. He breaks into her silent, 

You have every right to be mad at him, but, I still love you. Please give me second chance. Go and married your concubine. You have tried other women. But they have failed you. Then go and love your police dogs in your father mansion. 

Mike’s blood rolled in anger and lost his temper, and yelled, 

Barren woman, this is the last time you insult me. 

Absolutely, but if anybody should be blame, then it is you. 

Why poor peasant? Mike asked with guilty conscience.

Daniel looks at him with angrily eye and there was a deep jealous on his mind. All of sudden Mike opened the door forcefully and drags Naomi out. She seems to be struggling with mike. Let go of me.

They wriggle their way through the crowd, have a clear view. The taxi man was punching the guy on the ground, with sand all over his face.. 

Suddenly the policeman recognize Mike. The people watched as he lifted Daniel up. Mike struggled from the ground. He goes faster than Daniel expect, but the policewoman emerged from the crowd ran quickly to stop him. She shouted at him,

Mike slowly and reluctantly stops. Then he had no strength and energy for another encounter with Daniel. But his mouth feels sore and swollen, blood dropped from his nose. 

There was a loud noise from women and children, and cheered up Daniel. 

Men roared with laughter, and never feel sorry for mike compared to what he did to that beautiful lady. Naomi was frightened and almost breaking into tear. But Daniel summons enough courage and grips her tight by the hand.

Rebecca kept silent. She quickly took her little towel from her handbag, and wipe off the alcoholic drink off Daniel clothes.

Naomi and Daniel haven’t driven more than five kilometer. They saw mike Jeep Park beside the road, and stop immediately. 

Daniel rushed out from the taxi cab, as Naomi hurried out from her jeep. They saw Mike with a pool of blood on his head, but he was unconscious. 

Daniel carried him inside Naomi jeep. She drove faster to family hospital in Victoria Island. The two nurses hurried out from the front door and carried a stretcher on their hands and put mike on it. They quickly move him inside the hospital, and place him on the bed rest. 

The female doctor discovered that mike was unconscious, but she examines his head. 

How is condition, doctor? Daniel asked fearfully 

Mike condition is not worse. But it will take him one or two hours to wake up, she said and breathes fast. Two hours later, Naomi felt happy. When Mike suddenly woke up, and opened his eye.The nurse started bandage his head. He saw Daniel staring at him. Dad, why are you against Naomi choice? 

Daniel, is commoner. He cannot build a bright future with Naomi. 

Let God decide that. We all knew, what she had experience in her previous marriage with Mike. Joseph, your father is too stubborn, When we are poor, he’s humble and compassionate. Now, he’s very rich , but heartless and mean to the poor people, Esther cut in 

Yes, the rich and poor people are two unique people but money is greater than them all. 

You are absolutely wrong, Dad. 

Shut up, Joseph. 

This is the reason. I prefer to stay in London, you never respect my decision in this family. Now, you want to deny Naomi her happiness again. 

Get out of my sight, Daniel. Because of you, my wife and children are against me. I don’t want to see your face in my house again. Do you understand? 

Esther stares at her husband. But Joseph was short of words, and Naomi heart bled, and shiver ran up her spine, stares at her father. 

Let Daniel be, 

Remember this is my house, Jacob yelled 

Naomi quickly holds his right arm. He’s going nowhere. You have to kill me first before Daniel leaves this house. On one condition, I will leave with him, and live in that slum area with him, that irritated you, Dad. Are you kidding me, Naomi? 

I am damned sorry, Dad. 

How dare you question my order? 

My fiance can be commoner. I know, you don’t like him, because he came from poor background. But I love him, because God did not create everybody to be rich. We are getting married; nothing on this earth can change that. She said and smile at Daniel. 

There are silent for a while. Hannah, Esther and Jacob staring at Naomi and Daniel, holding each other arms. Suddenly Daniel pulled himself together and follows Naomi back to the sofa. 

Daniel sat down beside Naomi. Joseph sat the other sofa, staring them amazingly. 

Come on, little sister. Remember what I told you in my law chamber in London. 

Yes, Joseph 

Wipe your tear. Everything will be fine.

Naomi feels relief from Joseph courageous words. But she found it difficult to think straight, because her father is trying to discourage her relationship with Daniel. 

Jacob smiles at Naomi, and felt her grief, and Soilioquize, I didn’t want another man to break her heart. I trusts my instinct. Naomi is making the right choice. She ready to sacrifice her life for him. I didn’t want to spoil their relationship. Daniel is a good man. No matter how I tried to frustrate him, he never fights back. But I didn’t wish Naomi to go far from me. While Someone have to take her away from me. I must learn to live with that reality. What is the matter, Dad? Joseph asked, tried to guess what had grief off his mind 

I am just thinking, my son. 

What are you thinking about, Dad? Hannah demand 

You didn’t approve Naomi relationship with Daniel. is that what’s trouble your mind? Esther screamed loud It is time for lunch, Jacob said in command tone. 

Then Hannah nodded unsatisfactorily, and walks through the kitchen. She helps the housemaid, Deborah to bring a bowl of fried rice and chicken stew. They quickly sit the foods on the dining table. 

Don’t allow my father anger to weigh you down, Joseph whispered in Daniel’s ear. 

Thank you, Joseph. For stood by me, no matter how your father have been too harsh on me. He’s not a bad person. 

There are many good things about him, Joseph exclaimed 

As they say” It is the mind that count not always ones action” I have sat down with him and receive aggressive words from him. I am not angry with him, because he’s hard on the outside but he’s very tender and caring in inside. He wants the best for Naomi. If I live without regard for him, then I don’t value Naomi love for me. Thank you, Naomi said, smile at him. 

Abruptly, Daniel stood up from the sofa and sat beside Naomi. Then Esther dished the foods.They began to eat in silent, but Daniel was struggle with his folk and spoon. 

Jacob looked up and irritated. He fixed gaze on Daniel. But Naomi saw her sibling nodded their head. She quickly teaches Daniel how to use his folk and spoon. 

Commoner from the slum area, Jacob said and burst laugh 

Daniel’s words took Naomi and her sibling unaware. No matter how many you stab me with your knife of words, Mr Jacob. But I know, you are not a bad person. 

Daniel is a poor man, but better than mike, the son of your business partner, Esther rebuke Please stops humiliate Daniel, and what shall he do, and prove that he’s a good man. 

That’s your opinion, Hannah, Jacob disagree 

Daniel watches Naomi staring at her food. His tone melt her trouble heart. Come on, sweetheart. Eat your food. Naomi was so happy by his statement and lean on Daniel shoulder. 

Are you angry with me? Jacob said, looks at her eye. 

Naomi looks at her father, and smile at him. I love you, Dad. But I love Daniel from the depth of my heart. Jacob admits and felt a bit jealous. Naomi smile at him, and began to eat in silent. 

Does Daniel love you the way, you love him. But one month, that is not enough to know if he truly loves you. P lease, Dad. Let finished our food, Hannah pleaded. 

They stop their conversation and eat in silent. 

Thank you for the delicious meal. I’ll take my leave, now, Daniel said, checks his wrist watch. Naomi sees him off. She discovers that Daniel was trouble hearted, and consoled him. 

My father cannot stop me, not to marry you. 

He felt, the poor people can’t dine and wine in the golden table with him. 

You have the whole right to angrily. Please, he’s still my father. 

Therefore, it would be wise if you listen to him, So that we can go our separate way. 

Are you broken up with me? Naomi asked, and move closed to him. 

Daniel stare at her uncontrollable tear rolled down her cheek. He draws her close and embraces her tightly. I am sorry to say such words. I can’t leave without you. I have made my mind to fight for our love. Daniel words fill her heart with excitement. She disengaged herself and bide him goodbye. Naomi keep staring at him. Then she walks back to the house. 

Daniel can be poor. Money cannot buy love. He’s my destined husband, she screamed loud. Yes, Deborah answered, as she place banana and orange juice on the table. 

Go back to the kitchen, that’s where you belong, Jacob yelled 

I am sorry, Deborah apologizer and walk away. 

Jacob sips his juice little, and gave it to Naomi, but she rejected it. 

Please forgive me, Naomi. If I had made you feel that way. 

Is alright, Dad. 

It is already night. Please, let go to our unique room.

CHAPTER NINE 

The following morning by 3:00 am. Jacob heard Naomi screaming in her sleep, 

Daniel ! Daniel !! 

He quickly woke Esther up. She was state of confusion. When she heard Naomi voice, 

Please don’t leave me, Daniel. 

Jacob and Esther tried not thinking something bad happened to Naomi. 

Then Hannah woke up from her bedroom. Joseph crawled out of the bedroom, too. 

Joseph and Hannah were frightened and wanted to know why Naomi was screaming. They stood up from their unique bed, and hurried inside her room. 

Naomi was unconscious, and her night gown soak with sweat. 

Suddenly Esther followed Jacob through the staircase that led to Naomi room, opened the door forcefully. Jacob rush inside her bedroom, and Esther followed him. 

Joseph and Hannah can see, how grief Esther and Jacob were. 

Naomi! Naomi!, Jacob screamed 

If anything happened to my daughter. I will not forget you, Esther shouted 

I couldn’t imagine losing my sister, Hannah said, sobbed 

Please, this is not time for argument, Joseph assured 

Suddenly Naomi woke up, bath in sweat, and asked, 

Where is Daniel? 

She quickly turn her face. Jacob touches her gently as Hannah roll Naomi to the side and saw tear in her eye. Jacob sat beside Naomi. I know, you are upset right, now. 

Yes, Dad. 

Esther sat beside her husband. She gently touches Naomi’s forehead, and wipes her tear with his arm. Your tear makes me uncomfortable. I can’t stood by and watch you suffering. 

Men can either be a curse and blessing. two kinds of people that come into my life. Mike, who almost destroyed my life, and broken my heart. And Daniel, the taxi man. Who heal my broken heart. 

I am not dispute your fact, Jacob admit 

Esther and Hannah suddenly fell on their knee, clutching at Jacob sleeping gown. 

Please grant Naomi desire, Esther pleading 

Yes, Hannah said gently 

I love Daniel. for who he’s, and not judging his background or where he come from. I want no other man than him. Because I am ready to do anything stupid to myself, for the sake of Daniel, Naomi said, and leans on his shoulder. I must confess, Daniel ’s a man of patience, tolerant and submissive. No matter how many time he was hurt by my harsh words, but calm and humble. 

You are playing hard to get, Jacob, Esther said, smile at him 

Yes, my virtue wife. I want to know if Daniel is a perfect gentleman with humility spirit, because poor men in our societies are gold digger. 

My God, Dad. You are pretending as if Daniel is worthless man. 

Yes, Naomi. I want to test his patience and the spirit of humility inside him. 

Thank God, Daniel did not fail your trial, Naomi said happily. 

Alright, I will grant Naomi request. 

Hannah and Esther quickly sat down on the bed next to Jacob. 

Thank you, Dad. 

Naomi felt excited and sat beside Joseph on the sofa. 

My little sister is excited. 

Yes, Joseph. She answered and feels happy. 

lt is time we support Naomi and Daniel wedding. I’ll pay for all her wedding expense, Joseph said satisfactorily Naomi quickly stood up from the sofa, and embrace Joseph with joy on her face.Then she ran to the bedroom, and brushes her teeth. She took her bath, and dresses quickly 

You look gorgeous, Hannah exclaimed 

Off course, she wanted to attract Daniel. 

Yes, Mum, Naomi answered, and went out of the door. 

Naomi opened her jeep car, and sat on the steeling and put the ignition. She drove fast along Mainland Bridge, and turns off Army barrack road, and move her jeep into slum city. 

Thirty minutes later. Naomi stopped, beside Daniel house. He was lying on his wooden bed, and his head deep inside the pillow. Suddenly she walked, and standing at the doorstep.

Daniel turned and looked back. Naomi walked in. He jumps out from the bed, and she sat down beside the bed. He wrapped his arm around her neck. She hold her arm, and smile at him. 

Few minutes later. Naomi looks around the room. There’s ceiling fan, but no electricity, but the window is opened, and the ventilating wasn’t flow as smooth. She was soaking with sweat, but her heart was beating fast. I am sorry, my room is uncomfortable. I know, you not use to this one room apartment. 

I am not complaining, Naomi answered, and looked him in the eye. 

Thank you, my love 

I want you to guess 

Please tell me the latest new. 

my stubborn father has approved our marriage 

That’s good news, Daniel said and feels delighted. 

Next week, hope you are coming to see my sibling. Please, don’t reject my offer. 

Yes, Naomi. I must paid your bride price and wed you in the church. 

I know, you are not financial buoyant. I don’t want my father to look down on you, as someone who cannot afford to pay my bride price. Though, he doesn’t need your money. I want to be legal married, as your wife. I have decided to send some money to your account. 

Thank you, Naomi. 

I have to take my leave, now. 

You have to spend some time with me. 

I am sorry; I have some case file in my office. Remember I am a company lawyer. My staff cannot handle it. I need to scrutinize them. 

Okay, drive slowly. 

I know it, you will be a caring husband. 

Then Naomi drove faster to her law office at Victoria Island. 

CHAPTER TEN 

A week later, Daniel took taxi cab to Victoria Island, as he enters the mansion. There was silent in the sitting room. Have your seat, Esther said, smile 

Thank you, madam. 

Immediately Esther orders Deborah to bring a glass of juice for Daniel. She places it on the table beside him. Then he drank a little and gives it to Naomi. She smile at him and drank the juice, too. 

Have you fixed date for your wedding, Jacob asked 

Yes, Dad, Naomi said 

End of this month, Daniel added 

On Saturday morning, the church was full of influence people and Jacob business partner, present in the occasion. Naomi friends were there, the fact was Daniel widow mother present at the wedding. But his friends refuse to honor his invitation because they were scare of Naomi father humiliation. 

The guests sitting in the congregation, awaiting the arrival of Naomi and Daniel. Suddenly Mike slumped into the nearby chair. 

Then men and women started conversation to each other. 

This wedding was amazing. It is not common for the poor man to married rich man daughter, the Young man exclaimed  is not the same lady that her ex- hubby was dragging on the floor, the fat man asked surprisedly. Absolutely, the life is a small world. finally, Destiny had brought the taxi man and the young lady together, the old man said, and smile. 

Mike never irritated by their speech, but smile at them. He shook his head and felt happy. Now, Naomi about to wed Daniel. Though, he realized his mistake that the poor and rich people are the same, in spite of their background status. Now, he’s devoted christian, a new creature and old things have passed away. He had stop womanizer, alcoholic drinking and taking hard drugs. 

One hour later. Naomi and Daniel came out from limousine car, Joseph is the best man for Daniel, and Hannah is the best woman for Naomi. 

Naomi was such a pleasant mood. She dresses in white long gown, but Daniel dress complete in black suit and white shirt. She staring at her husband, and said, 

You are very handsome. 

Thank you, my ugly wife, Daniel teases her. 

They walked inside the church, as Jacob and Esther were delighted as friends and well wisher staring them. Mike covered his face with his hands, and soilioquize,

One thing clears to me. I regretted how, I treats Naomi badly. Now, nothing I can do about it, because the deed is done. I wishes, I can turn the hand of the clock back. 

Suddenly Naomi and Daniel spotted Mike straight away, as Daniel did recognize him, and keep staring at him, for a moment. He was Surprise, mike wave his right hand at Daniel, and scream at the top of his voice, Happy married life. 

Mike is change person, now. He came to witness our wedding, Naomi said happily 

Then Mike sighted and struggle with his feet and stepped out away from the church. He walked to his jeep and drove fast on the road. 

Please sat down, ladies and gentlemen. We are gathered here to wed Naomi and Daniel, the pastor said and smile at them. 

The guests were dead silent, as they stare into the pastor’s eye. 

Daniel, will you take Naomi as your lovely wife for better and worse. 

Yes, I will. Daniel said and smile. 

The pastor looks into Naomi’s eye. Do you swear to be lovely wife to Daniel, as long as you live. Yes, I do. Naomi said gently. 

As the servant of the most merciful God, I pronounce Daniel and Naomi as husband and wife. Now, you may kiss the bride. Then Daniel took Naomi in his arm and kisses her lip. 

Immediately the church ceremonies were over. Naomi and Daniel walked and knelt down before Jacob and Esther. Jacob said, may God bless my daughter with the fruit of the womb, Jacob said boldly 

Amen, Esther shouted 

Naomi could not help sobbing, as her tear of joy met Daniel’s eye. 

Two hours later. All categories of people arrive at the reception. Unique kind of foods was present, with expensive wine and champagnes. They settle down to eat, as music was entertaining them. 

The evening is approaching fast, as the bird flew on the skies. Abruptly, they satisfy their stomach. The people were taking by surprise, as Jacob and Esther stood up, holding Daniel and Naomi hand. Then the guests rose to their feet. 

This was the moment for which Esther had waited all her life.Then joy filled her heart, but Joseph and Hannah could understand his mother tear of joy. As Jacob’s word spilled out. 

It gives me great pleasure to present this little advice.There are some memories that cannot be erasing. We shouldn’t deny that fact. It is hard to go against what had been destiny together by God. 

I have gathered my specimen of fact, and store it in my head that in the global world today. The poor people are not recognizing in the midst of the rich people. We cannot stop the wheel of God in the right direction, He paused, and staring at the guests for a while. 

Jacob said and continue, sometime they were creating for each other in marriage. No matter how wealth and famous we are in our societies. We should not deny the poor men not to married our daughters, if it is the will of God. Money can’t buy love, because Daniel, the taxi driver doesn’t mortgage his conscience because of money. God had destined him to married my precious daughter, Naomi. 

I regretted my action, to go against the will of God in her life, because of selfish and greed, and paused. Then friends, well wishers and sibling digest Jacob inspire words inside their stomach, and nodded their head to each other. They clapped their hands, and start present gifts to the new wedded couple. 

Suddenly the guests accost Jacob and Esther to the new duplex house that he brought for Naomi and Daniel. Esther present a brand Toyota jeep keys to them. Then hand of applause from the guests filled the air. Esther and Jacob left, as the guests followed them. 

Daniel put his arm around Naomi shoulder, as they walk to their new duplex, and surveyed the compound. There are unique beautiful flowers and Toyota jeep. 

Daniel opened the front door and Naomi stepped inside. He studies Naomi who sat beside him in the sitting room. As she rests her head against his chest. But he knew what a child meant to her, as fear had taken control of her well being. 

What’s the matter, Naomi? 

She raises her eye to him, and put her arm around him for a while. He can feel the load of worry flee from her heart.Then Daniel wipe’s the tear from her eye. 

Naomi embraces Daniel, and sensation quickly went through her that inspiring his strong passion, I love you, Daniel. 

I love you, Naomi, with all my heart. 

Naomi looks at his handsome face. Suddenly Daniel carried her to the executive bed, and lay her down. He fell over her soft bodies. 

One month later. Naomi misses her period, and discovered that she was pregnant. She notices her belly is heavier, and looked in the mirror. Then she stares at Daniel.

I will be a mother, soon. 

Yes, Daniel answered happily 

Naomi put her head on his lap. I know that he’s a girl. 

Yes, my beautiful wife. 

Nine months later. Naomi and Daniel went to family hospital in kofo abayomi street, two miles away from their duplex. The nurses lay her down at the labor room. Then Daniel collapse heavily unto nearby sofa, and thought, the time come for Naomi to give birth. He was silent for a moment as he closes his eye. Suddenly he heard Naomi screamed loud, and devote all her energy to pull her unborn child out, as sweating dripping from the bodies. 

The doctor hands stain with blood, but by the grace of God. The girl came out from her womb successfully, and his umbilical cord was cut. He smile and gave the baby to the nurse to clean her up. 

As the nurse bath and wrapped her with a little white towel. Immediately the girl snoring, and handles her to Naomi. 

Naomi was so glad, because of joy of motherhood have weather the storm of barrenness in her life. She kisses his forehead and lays her down on a little bed. 

Doctor approach Daniel, and said. Your wife put to bed a bouncing baby girl. He quickly stood up, and walked to the labor room. He was staring at Naomi and his beautiful daughter, 

Jessica 

Immediately Daniel carried her from the little bed. 

Naomi smile at him. She quickly embraces Daniel. She takes a good look at her daughter, as little Jessica lay asleep in Daniel’s hand.
