Written Author Interview
- Tell me about yourself. What do you like to do outside of writing. What is a day in the life like for you?
I like to game, read STEM literature, arrange music in GarageBand and talk to my friends online. I occasionally blog. These days, I’m keeping busy primarily looking at ways to promote my book.
2. What are some of your favorite genres to read? Are there any books you’d recommend to first time readers or people looking for something new?
I like to read non-fiction. I like to read STEM articles and articles about computer technology (PC, mobile, AR/VR, AI, et cetera). I also like reading gaming articles and history articles.
3. What’s the most difficult thing about being a writer?
The fact that people don’t think it’s a respectable occupation. (“Get a real job.”)
4. What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve written in your novel? Don’t worry, we don’t judge here.
Not exactly unhinged, but I once wrote a poem about Super Mario that’s so bad, I hope it never sees the light of day. It’s really, really, really bad.
5. What’s one thing about being a writer that absolutely drives you up the wall?
When I’m in the mood to write and the words just don’t come to me. This happens a lot.
6. What does being a successful writer look like for you? What type of life do you want to live as a writer?
I want my poems to entertain and to inspire. But more importantly, I want my poems and my write-ups to inform. If I can popularise scientific ideas using the art-form of poetry, then I think I will have made it.
7. Describe your writing journey. If you had to write a story centered around it, do you think you could pull it off?
I began writing poetry one night because I was feeling sad. Then I wrote and wrote and wrote — before I knew it, I had a sizeable poetry collection going. I started submitting these poems to literary magazines — and they were all accepted for publication. That’s when I knew I wanted to be a real writer. (Up until that point, I’d only written non-fiction articles about the computer/mobile world.)
